Il Porticciolo
The story of Hotel Il Porticciolo is closely linked with the Bassetti household. A common thread as the red of the terracotta-colored facades preserved by the former owners: a well-known local upper-class family. Red such as the Michelin star, that shone on the jacket of resident chef Riccardo Bassetti, who is in charge of the gastronomic offer of the Hotel. Red as the sunsets that you can enjoy on the private terraces of the room and as the wine that you can drink on the cantilevered terrace on the Lake. And red as the passion of an Italian family, the father Giovanni, the mother Elisabetta and the son, Riccardo. In more than 40 years, the Bassetti family has invested in the beauty of these shores, these territories and the products that they offer, always keeping a sustainable approach.
We are on the Varese shores of Lake Maggiore, in the town of Laveno-Mombello. The Hotel il Porticciolo is located in an absolutely privileged position, perched on the rock between the hill and the lake, and from every corner of the structure you can enjoy the charm of a landscape that ranges from Verbania, with the Borromean Islands, to Monte Rosa, from the center of Laveno Mombello to Monte Sasso del Ferro, from the top of which you can dominate the entire lake. The spaces of Il Porticciolo are distributed over 4 floors: at the highest point, the most panoramic, there is the indoor swimming pool and the SPA, recently renovated (2021); on the second and third floors there are the 11 rooms and junior suites, all with private balconies and views of the lake; the lower level is instead dedicated to the La Tavola restaurant, Michelin Star for 8 years and in the guide since 1986, to the breakfast room and to the cantilevered outdoor terrace, with a dock for mooring boats.
The 11 deluxe rooms and junior suites – from 25 to 55 square meters – are among the most spacious in the area. The philosophy has always been to recreate a homely, warm and welcoming atmosphere, without ever diverting attention from the lake that moves slowly and placidly beyond the large windows. The large arched windows perfectly frame the colors of a landscape that changes from the blue of the water to the green of the mountains, until you can glimpse the peaks of Monte Rosa. Crossing the threshold of the private terraces, present in each room, the sounds and scents of these places complete our idea of hospitality. Wi-Fi and satellite television are available in all rooms.
